Balıkesir University, Ayvalık Vocational School, Architectural Restoration Program, conducted a field study in the Ayvalık Urban Conservation Area as part of the Survey course, led by Lecturer Gülşah Yetgin Gözüaçık. The aim of the study was for students to examine traditional residential facades on site and gain practical experience in the field regarding the technical aspects of the survey process.

Within the scope of the study, students were taught sketching, basic measurement techniques, and survey methods through practical application. During the fieldwork, data was collected for identifying architectural elements on the facades, analyzing the facade character, and preparing survey drawings. Students had the opportunity to directly apply measurement and documentation processes by observing the historical fabric on site. This experience contributed to reinforcing theoretical knowledge in a historical environment and providing a comprehensive perspective on the discipline of surveying.

The study contributed to the development of students' professional competencies focused on conservation and documentation, enabling them to interpret Ayvalık's unique architectural heritage in situ.
