Balıkesir University Ayvalık Vocational SchoolAYMEYO – Keep the Spirit Alive, Leave Lasting ValuesOur Vocational School, which offers associate degree education, started its academic activities in the 1993–1994 academic year under Balıkesir University, with the “Tourism and Hotel Management” and “Business Administration” programs in the new District Governorate building. Later, due to the insufficiency of the existing building, the former Library building affiliated with the District Governorate was also allocated, and evening programs for the same departments were opened.In the 2002–2003 academic year, our Vocational School moved to its current building and has since been offering education in the departments of “Hotel, Restaurant and Catering Services,” “Marketing and Advertising,” “Management and Organization (Day and Evening Programs),” and “Architecture and Urban Planning (Day and Evening Programs),” with a total of 971 students. In addition to their main studies, students are also provided with opportunities to learn foreign languages such as German and English.Our Vocational School is equipped with two computer laboratories, a rich library containing periodical and non-periodical publications, a cafeteria, two technical drawing workshops, a 200-seat conference hall, and classrooms furnished with technological equipment. Furthermore, within the School campus, the privately operated AYMEYO Sports Complex offers facilities such as a fitness hall, basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, and an astroturf football field, all of which are open to the use of academic and administrative staff, students, and the people of Ayvalık.Alongside social and cultural activities for students, the School also organizes panels and seminars on important days and occasions (such as employment fairs, tourism week events, youth-oriented activities, restoration exhibitions, etc.), addressing the information needs and concerns of the local community. In addition, periodic cultural and educational trips are organized for students to nearby historical sites such as Bergama, Behramkale, Assos, the Gallipoli Martyrs’ Memorial, and Troy.Since the 2018–2019 academic year, students of the Vocational School have been accommodated in a dormitory operated by the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK), with a capacity of 356 students. Therefore, there is no accommodation problem in our region.The academic staff of the School consists of 2 Professors, 1 Associate Professor, 2 Assistant Professors, and 8 Lecturers. Since its establishment, the School has graduated a total of 3,710 students.
