A Meaningful Visit to a Nursing Home by Ayvalık Vocational School Students
Second-year students of the Business Administration Program at Ayvalık Vocational School continue to contribute to social awareness through the social responsibility activities they carry out within the scope of the Public Relations course. The activities, planned under the guidance of Lecturer Gözde Nur Coşkun Kaya, aim to develop students’ social sensitivity as well as their communication skills.
Within this framework, the students visited the Burhaniye Seaside Nursing Home, where they came together with elderly residents. By chatting, listening, and spending time together, the students shared memorable moments. Having the opportunity to closely witness the unique life stories of each resident, the students once again realized the great value of experience, sincere words, and heartfelt smiles.
The visit revealed how a simple conversation, a genuine smile, and truly listening can create a strong and meaningful bond. Students gained important awareness that the most beautiful form of communication lies in sincere human connections.
This activity, carried out within the scope of the Public Relations course, went beyond being merely a course requirement and became a meaningful experience that enhanced social awareness and strengthened intergenerational interaction for the students.
