"Olive Oil Herb Dishes" Event in the Kitchen Services Course
As part of the Kitchen Services course in the Tourism and Hotel Management Program at Ayvalık Vocational School, a special hands-on event focusing on olive oil herb dishes was organized under the coordination of Lecturer Gözde Nur Coşkun Kaya. The event featured Chef Salih Doğan, an experienced culinary professional, as the guest instructor.
The activity was conducted under the coordination of Lecturer Gözde Nur Coşkun Kaya, the course instructor, with the guidance of Lecturer Hayri Taşkır, Vice Director of the Vocational School.
During the event, students participated in a practical workshop highlighting olive oil herb dishes, an essential component of Aegean cuisine. Chef Salih Doğan demonstrated the preparation of four different traditional dishes, while students actively took part in every stage of the process—from cleaning and washing the wild herbs to preparing and cooking them. This hands-on experience enabled students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge while developing their practical culinary skills.
The event provided students with valuable professional experience and a deeper appreciation of the region's rich gastronomic heritage. At the conclusion of the program, appreciation was extended to all academic staff who contributed to the event. Chef Salih Doğan was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his valuable contributions and knowledge sharing.
