Taking the First Step in a Career Journey Through Industry-University Collaboration: CV Preparation Seminar
As part of the Career Planning course offered in the Tourism and Hotel Management Program at Ayvalık Vocational School, an event was organized to support students' professional development. At the invitation of the course instructor, Lecturer Gözde Nur Coşkun Kaya, Emine Çil, Human Resources Manager of Grand Temizer Hotel, met with the students to share her industry experience.
During the event, Emine Çil delivered a comprehensive presentation on the importance of career planning in the tourism industry. She provided practical guidance on effective CV preparation, highlighting the essential elements of a strong résumé and explaining the key criteria considered during recruitment processes. Students also received valuable advice on developing the competencies that distinguish candidates in the tourism sector, making the most of internship opportunities, and planning successful career paths.
The presentation was followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, during which students had the opportunity to ask questions directly to an industry professional. This session enabled participants to gain a realistic understanding of the tourism sector while helping them make more informed decisions about their future careers.
The event attracted significant interest from first-year students of the Tourism and Hotel Management Program and successfully combined theoretical knowledge with practical industry experience. By sharing real-world professional insights, the seminar enhanced students' career awareness, increased their motivation, and contributed meaningfully to their career planning process.
At the end of the event, Lecturer Gözde Nur Coşkun Kaya presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Emine Çil in recognition of her valuable contribution and emphasized the importance of strengthening industry–university collaboration in supporting students' academic and professional development.
